When Textline and Zapier have been connected, you can create Zaps based on several different triggers and actions we explain below. To learn how to connect Textline with Zapier, read more below.
Textline functionality in Zapier
Triggers
New Customer Message
This trigger gets called when a customer sends you a new message in Textline. It includes information about the customer and the message.
Example: When a new message is received in Textline, add message information to Google Sheets
Actions
Send message to Textline contact
This action will send a message to a Textline contact via your Textline account.
Example: When the status of a Lead is changed in Salesforce, send a message to a Textline contact.
Import message to Textline from contact
This action will import a message to a Textline conversation, appearing as though the Textline contact has sent the message to your Textline account. See some examples here.
Example: When a contact fills out a Google Form, import information as a customer message in Textline.
Create or update Textline contact
This action will create a new contact or update an existing contact in your Textline Address Book.
Example: New spreadsheet row in Google sheets creates a new Textline contact.
Send Announcement
This action will send an Announcement to one or more contacts. This can be done by phone number(s), Tag, or saved search. Using the phone numbers option with this action works best when using Zapier's digest functionality to build up a group of contacts to send your Announcement.
Example: When an event ends in a Google Calendar, wait one day and send a group of contacts a mass text.
Send Survey
This action will send a survey to one or more contacts. This can be done by phone number(s), tag, or saved search. Using the phone numbers option with this action works best when using Zapier's digest functionality to build up a group of contacts to send your survey.
Example: When an event ends in Google Calendar, wait 3 days and send attendees a custom survey from Textline asking them about their experience.
Update Agent Status
This action will update an Agent's availability within Textline.
Example: When an agent sends a specific "clock-in" message in Slack, update Textline to make them available to turn on notifications.
Search
Find Agent
Find an agent's information by email.
Example: When another Zapier app only sends agent info using their email address, use this search action to find the associated Agent in Textline so that you can then update their Availability using our Update Agent Status action.
Find Contact
Find a contact by phone number.
Example: When another Zapier app only sends contact info using their phone number, use this search action to find the associated Contact in Textline so that you can then update their details using our Update Contact action.
Integrating and using Zapier
To integrate with Zapier, first head to your Tools & Integrations section in Textline. Click the Zapier button, then select login. Alternatively, if you see a Zap you'd like to use in the list of prebuilt options, you can select Use the Zap to be walked through setup.
Clicking Connect will open Zapier. If you already have a Zapier account, select login. If not, select Sign Up to create your Zapier account.
To complete the integration, search for Textline in Zapier's available apps.
If you'd like to create your first Zap now, you can choose from one of Textline's prebuilt Zaps that populate below the search field or select the Make A Zap button to create a Zap of your own. Either option will walk you through setting up your Zap and have you connect your Textline account if you haven't yet. You'll need your Textline login credentials to complete the process if this is your first time using the integration.
If you're not ready to create your first Zap but want to connect your Textline account for future use, you can do so in the App Details section below Popular Zaps. In the Textline box, select Connect Account, and proceed with the required steps.
If you’d like to perform a Textline action triggered by a different app rather than one of the prebuilt options, or if you’re returning to your Zapier account later to make a Zap, select the Make a Zap button found on your Zapier home screen.
Steps to create Zaps - and the possible actions that can result - will vary based on the apps you've chosen as triggers and action(s). You can add your preferred Apps through Zapier’s Explore section.
